Functional variety
A functional variety (or a register) is a variety of a language used for a particular purpose or in a particular communicative situation.
In different situations we use different forms of language. The words and sentences we use reflect the goal we are aiming for, the relationship between the speakers and the situation we are in. Every time the context changes, we should adapt our language to make communication more effective.
